Business models for the networked society
As I point out in the introductory film – It is only when companies hemorrhage cash on a quarterly basis are they prepared to to think the unthinkable, and take what are to them counter-intuitive measures. And some, sadly too many, are not prepared even then to do what is necessary. In an effort to mitigate risk they take the riskiest decision of all – not to comprehend the world they live in, and resist change.
A new common sense
But, some simple logic mixed with some hard nosed business sense can enable organisations to avoid the pain of failure and see how it creates wealth in a networked context. It does not matter what industry you are in – making money in the networked society requires a different approach – it is why so many companies struggle, as they resist to the point of commercial exhaustion and ultimate collapse. Whatever business you are in – this workshop will enable you to understand how to thrive in the networked world.
This workshop will show you how businesses models work in the 21st Century, via case histories as diverse as [1] automotive [2] media / mobile, but there are salient connections to be made.
Issues in the workshop that will be tackled
- Cultural / Social insights – our world is always driven by human nature, we need to understand where we are at the moment and why that affects technology, culture and business
- Technology and markets – technology has collapsed time and space, by default any company can reach out to a global audience, businesses can run high-reach and low-cost marketing and communication strategies. Be flexible and adaptive in ways previously deemed unrealistic
- Legal - The manner in which wealth is created in the networked society challenges fixed notions on ownership, IP, patents and economic models – here we help you think through these issues
- Economic models – in the final part of the session, we explore different business models tailored to the group and discuss why these work, and how they might be adopted, or what we can learn for our own commercial need.
This day will enable you to develop a clearer understanding of what works and what doesn’t.
