Women’s golf kicks off at MountainView Collegiate on Friday

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston women’s golf returns to action this weekend when it competes in MountainView Collegiate beginning Friday morning at MountainView Golf Club.

Teams will play 18 holes each day through Sunday with a split tee at 10 a.m. (CDT) Friday and Saturday and a shotgun tee at 10 a.m. (CDT) for Sunday’s final round.

This will be Houston’s second event of the spring season.

The Cougars enter this weekend’s tournament after finishing tied for seventh in their own ICON Invitational on Feb. 21-22 at the Golf Club in Houston. At this event, senior Annie-Kim shot three consecutive shots from par or less and finished ninth at 5 under 211.

Under the direction of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gummthe Cougars will be represented by Kim, senior Ariana Saenzsecond Nicole AbelarSenior Maria Jose Martinez and second Delaney Martin.

This season, Kim leads the Cougars with an average of 72.78 and eight rounds of par or better, including three in the 60s.

Martinez is second among the Cougars with an average of 74.17, while Saenz and Martin are tied for second with six rounds or less.

The Cougars will face student-athletes from Arkansas, Florida, Iowa State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Jose, from Southern Miss, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV and co-hosts from Missouri and Kansas State. .

After MountainView Collegiate, Houston will wrap up its regular season schedule when it competes in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic March 25-27 at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.

From there, the Cougars take their first step into the playoffs when they compete in the American Athletic Conference Championships, which take place April 17-19 at Pinehurst #6 – Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina. .
