For the publisher:

Please join my wife and I in re-electing John Madzula to the Finance Council. I’ve known John from our college days and through Sandy’s interactions with him on the FRO. John thinks critically and looks at issues from all angles, as all litigators should. John has been cooperative and non-partisan in his decisions and always tries to do the right thing. He went beyond his mandatory duties in the BOF to sit on the BOE non-expirations working group and to represent the BOF in BOE contract negotiations with directors.

John’s previous experience in construction and project management has added value to discussions of capital improvement projects. John grew up in Newtown and understands our history and the importance of keeping our history in mind as we develop as a city. Finally, at a time when we expect a significant turnover on this major board, experience and continuity are important. John will provide both.

We will also support Chandravir Ahuja for the Finance Council. During his short tenure as an Appointed Member, Chand has proven he has the financial savvy and experience to ask the right questions and keep Newtown on the current path of financial health. Chand has been a public servant in Newtown for a long time, having previously served on the Fairfield Hills Main Review Board. Chand’s value to the board couldn’t be better summed up than his first words after his appointment: “I can’t wait to learn. I can’t wait to listen. He cares about maintaining financial health and making sure our decisions keep Newtown on track. Chand raised his family here in Newtown and is now part of the fabric of Newtown.

We hope readers will join us in supporting both candidates.
