Center increases financial support from 9 to 70 crore rupees to open Ayush colleges
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the government had increased financial support from nine crore to 70 crore rupees to ensure the opening of more Ayush colleges across the country. He said there are only a few Ayush colleges in the northeast, and traditional Indian medicine systems can only be popularized by making more qualified practitioners available. Yesterday, Mr. Sonowal was speaking at a conference on Diverse and Rewarding Career Paths in Ayush Systems: Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment Focused on Northeastern States at Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital in Guwahati.
Now states can identify the land for this purpose and the workforce and take advantage of this opportunity in accordance with the guidelines of the AYUSH National Mission (NAM), Sonowal said. The Minister said that the career opportunities in the Ayush sector for professionals from all disciplines have increased dramatically in recent years and confidence in Ayush systems has been restored among communities around the world. He added that Ayush has great potential to meet a large number of people’s health care needs and contribute to the growth and development of this country.
The Union Minister also announced the start of a Panchkarma Technician Course affiliated with the Health Sector Skills Council – National Skills Development Company at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Guwahati with 10 places for 10 + 2 students in order to produce a skilled workforce for Panchkarma therapy in the North East region and improve employment opportunities in this part of the country.
Mr Sonowal handed the letter of sanction to the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Keshab Mahanta, for upgrading the Governmental Ayurvedic College of Guwahati as a center of excellence with the support of 10 crore from rupees.
This is the first time that a conference focused on students and their career choices and the potential of start-ups in the sector has been organized by the Ayush Ministry with a particular focus on education, entrepreneurship and l employment in the northeastern states.
