Breast Cancer Organization’s annual Race for the Cure event in Detroit
DETROIT (FOX 2) – The world’s leading nonprofit breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen, hosted its annual Race for the Cure fundraising event in Detroit on October 2.
This is the 30th anniversary of Michigan’s biggest breast cancer event. The event was hosted in person with virtual options for attendees.
“On Saturday October 2, 2021, we will run for people who cannot: For those who are too weakened by the treatment to join. For those who are suffering. For those we have lost. Together we will fight breast cancer, ”the organization Susan G Komen said on its website.
Funds raised at the event will go towards finding new treatments for metastatic breast cancer, improving access to treatment and support, and advocating for funding and patient protection.
The organization was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the illness that claimed Susan’s life.
