Helping companies grow in the networked world
September 29th, 2010What does a smart person do when relocated to another place where high-flying marketing jobs are not available? I was talking yesterday to Rebecca Caroe – she’s a marketing geek from way back with whom I’ve collaborated on a couple of projects (here) (here) and she moved to New Zealand loyally following her husband back to the land of his fathers.
When she got there, it became quickly clear that all the marketing jobs weren’t in the city where she now lives (Dunedin – look it up it’s the Edinburgh of the southern hemisphere).
And so she has re-purposed her business to focus on delivering marketing services (here)
I asked her why and she said “So many great business owners know they need to do marketing and sales and lead generation but they are very busy running their businesses and delivering to the client base. I thought there must be an opportunity to offer marketing services that support business owners while they are at the growth stage before they can afford a full time marketing manager.”
“My big idea is to save time for busy Managing Directors by setting up a marketing “engine” that chugs away in the background so they can focus on their main priorities while having the confidence that the low cost marketing is working away continuously to deliver leads. I have found many business owners are happy to work with us remotely using Skype as the main means of contact – we speak weekly and in between we email and IM and speak if necessary.”
