Mitch and the Jerk

December 18th, 2008

This week I posted on Beck’s new “blog” which I scraped from Adrants.

I agreed with what the Adrant boys and girls had to say. The signature failure of style over substance, was the point. For example, the Roissy Terminal 1 at Charles de Gaulle is a monument to system complexity and a utter failure from the user experience, as expounded by design authority John Thackara.

You have to really persevere to navigate through this (and yes Mitch I did investigate the site) – my verdict a web designers playground. See what I am getting at? Blogs, as we all know are about content and the quality of that content vs. what they look like. Design, should be lightweight, and relevant. Its not that the design on the Beck’s “blog” is awful, its just out of context – if that is at all constructive. It is why, well constructed wiki’s can look more appealing than conventional websites as they are stripped of artifice and adornment, and are focused solely on information.

But last night I got a comment from a gentleman called Mitch, Mitch politely commented…

You wanker, you just ripped of (off – sic) adrants. Did you even go on the site you toss pot-it is about a million times entertaining than this shit.

In a fit of post operation pique (knee operation), I consigned Mitch’s comments to the room 101 of comments. But then as my blogging yoda friend Perry de Havilland once said

Alan, people will talk about you whether you like it or not, the good, the bad, and, the ugly, so you might as well join the conversation

So Mitch, you can decide which one you are out of that lot, and let me retort, with one word, embedded into a humorous TV spot. Who said interruptive advertising, wasn’t useful? Especially when you give it some context.
