I want YouTube, everyone wants YouTube

October 7th, 2006

The value in the cheese is in the holes is an old Dutch saying

And we are at the beginning, not the end of the journey into the networked society.

Which is why YouTube has received a “flurry” like snow, of offers to buy the business in the last few days.

YouTube has put a minimum price tag of $1.5bn to $1.6bn. even the New York Times had a gander

Last week, the New York Post put a $1.5 billion rumored for sale price tag on YouTube, up 50% from its $1 billion “name your YouTube sales price” target from a few months earlier.

Apparently the YouTube owners flew to media mogul camp

Techcrunch has some interesting comments on the YouTube sale

Hitwise, by the way, just posted some interesting traffic stats on Google Video vs YouTube. The gist of it is that YouTube is much bigger and growing faster and that Google sends lots of traffic to YouTube already, reportedly more than anyone but MySpace.

And the BBC posted on YouTube and copyright an issue I am certain will become increasingly significant.
